Brats N’ Beer Sauce

Go together like peas and carrots!

Bratwurst served with beer sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 package Josef’s Bratwurst (any will do; German Bratwurst is recommended)
  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle beer (a bock is great, but experiment with any lighter German beer)
  • 1 medium white onion, minced
  • 1 medium white onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • ¼ head green cabbage, sliced
  • 1–2 pinches caraway seed
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. Brown the minced onion in butter over medium-high heat.
  2. Add flour to the onions and slowly stir in the beer. Reduce heat slightly and add the bratwurst; cook for about 3–4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  3. In a separate pan, sauté the sliced onions, cabbage, and peppers. Stir in 1–2 pinches of caraway seeds.
  4. Place each bratwurst in a bun and smother with onions, cabbage, and peppers.
