Käse Krainer Corn Dogs

Think you know a corn dog? Think again! These babies will have your taste buds dancing and begging for more!

Käse Krainer corn dogs with dipping sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Josef’s Käse Krainer
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar syrup, such as agave syrup
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 quart vegetable oil
  • 4 heavy wooden skewers, or chopsticks

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, sift together cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. Stir in egg, cream, water, and sugar syrup until combined.
  3. Place skewers through sausages and dip into batter until fully covered.
  4. Heat oil in a large, deep pan to 300°F. Gently place battered sausages in the hot oil one at a time.
  5. Cook fully submerged for 1–3 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Place on a paper towel-lined plate until cool enough to eat.

Makes approximately 8 servings.
